That is awesome to know. I'm going to try that. I also found this:

http://c600847.r47.cf2.rackcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/reducing-sodium-beans.pdf

So, only a 45% reduction on average by rinsing but it helps if you're in a pickle.Out in Them Stickshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11632500899922541593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2629154873236211841.post-90860685593697432292012-02-15T09:48:47.962-05:002012-02-15T09:48:47.962-05:00I've seen several bean cookie recipes floating...I've seen several bean cookie recipes floating around the blogosphere, but have been too chicken to give them a try. You are making me feel a bit more courageous!

Have you thought of soaking and cooking your own beans? Then you could make sure they had no salt. A lot of directions for cooking beans say to use salt, but I don't anymore and they taste just fine.

I like to make a big 1 lb bag up at one time and then freeze them in portions that I need. (1 1/2 c for recipes that call for canned beans and 1/2 c for bean dip.)

I was surprised but cooked beans freeze really well. To defrost, I just put them in the fridge a day or two before I plan to use them.Mrsblockohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14433636824635089491noreply@blogger.com
