once a week to a restaurant of some kind and to be honest, I like that part of the week!  We love Qdoba because the kids eat free on Sunday and we get out of there cheap and the food is fresh.   We actually tried Chipotle in town first but the line wrapped around so long and there were no tables available.  So on to Qdoba we went.

I even went with the whole wheat tortilla.  The only thing I'm not doing differently is not adding sour cream and cheese and salty seasonings.  I'm also now adding mashed seasoned (little to no salt) beans to the fajita to help add dimension and flavor.

The tree house became semi-functional for children as of yesterday!!!! It has primitive railings (they still need to be finished), a ladder, and the kids can use the slide, and deck.

Is it me or did last week go REALLY fast?  Time goes by so much quicker in the summer.  Guess we were all too busy having fun.

We harvested the last of the peas and the broccoli and tilled those babies down.  We replanted with some summer squash.  We should have squash all summer long this time with this planting.

We were nervous to leave the garden last week.  Temps were in the upper 90's and humid and we had noone to water the garden.  I wasn't sure what we'd be coming back to.

type='text'>We finished harvesting our shallots and potatoes this week and we had quite the bounty.  I'm shocked and delighted by the results.  We will be definitely doing both again next year for It was a scary proposition and he did step on a few plants but he did a good job as helper.  Of course, he loves dirt so we had to bath him twice when the water became so dirty and there was a nice ring around the tub to scrub down afterward.

The vegetables overfloweth!  Tonight we ate our 1st purple cauliflower.  Sadly, there are only 4 more in the garden.  I'm almost tempted to spring for purple cauliflower seeds (Graffitti) online and have them shipped.  


Picked This Morning!We ate a couple florets raw and they were fabulous but we ended up lightly steaming a broccoli-cauliflower medley for dinner.

type='text'>Cherry Picking</title><summary type='text'>Apparently cherry picking season started last weekend here.  The season is only expected to last another two weeks so it was a perfect excuse to get out today and enjoy some of this humid, hot weather we are having.    I don't mind excessive sweating or even greasy sunscreen running into my eyes.  I love the hot weather and I LOVE SUMMER!!!

I also stuffed myself with an unbelievable amount of strawberries.  You wouldn't belive how many strawberries didn't make it to the bowl!

Unfortunately, they look tortured because Nick tilled over them this Spring when we were trying to clear the beds for some foundation planting later this month.  I tried to save what I could but they aren't what they were.  I think my friend Ali can sympathize.  Such is life... or well intentioned men, lol.  :)

It was a little too cool at the time to use it so I had to stash it in the closet until warm weather was upon us again.  With the temps in the low 90's, it was time to get it out! What a glorious day!!

I'm happy to report that Nick and I finished our 10 Miler.  Nick did really well again achieving a 8:00 minute mile pace.  He said he felt like he was going to puke at mile 3 but managed to overcome it and hit it hard the rest of the way.  I wish I was such a masochist, but alas, I am not.

I had to get it on paper, so I did.  Personally, I'd rather have put it in Microsoft Project but I don't have that software on my home computer so this will have to do. Winter was especially wicked this year and I just haven't been up it.   That is not to say that we haven't been hard at work.  We've been busy training for our Half Marathon that we completed last week (adding a full five minutes onto last year's time, lol...  but a lack of training thanks to bad weather will do that).
