I'm a landscape architect turned SAHM to two cuties and wife to a painfully witty analyst. I spend most of my time experimenting in the kitchen and garden, keeping active as best I know how (to keep the lard from taking up permanent residence on my ass) and chasing after two little dirt devils. I don't do either job very well as you will soon find out with this blog!

I hope you enjoyed your cookies, looked like a lot of fun.
Smoke detector update.
Jesse says that if yours are 120v with battery back-up, even if the power isn't getting to them you can put fresh batteries in and they will work just fine. Otherwise he said that it sounds like the power is not connected; either was missed during construction (newer house???) or breaker is shut off. Smoke alarms are generally on their own circuit so you wouldn't necessarily know if the power was off. Shouldn't be very expensive to have an electrician come and troubleshoot the problem.
